Dzeko Catches Sbragia's Eye

Sunderland boss Ricky Sbragia's has added Edin Dzeko to his list of potential targets. The Black Cats chief saw the Wolfsburg frontman score a fine goal in his country's 4-2 World Cup qualifying win over Belgium on Saturday. The 23-year-old is highly regarded in the Bundesliga and has already attracted plenty of interest from afar. Sbragia told the Sunderland Echo: "Belgium-Bosnia looked the best game in Europe on Saturday so I went to have a look. "Dzeko's a good player and got himself a good goal, but we're looking at a lot of players at the moment and at this stage we can't do anything in terms of recruitment until the season's finished and we know we're in the Premier League. "It's a case of me trying to see as many games as possible and see what's out there. "The international break is a good time to do that because we have a lot of players away on duty and I can get away from the training ground for a while. "But even when I was sat in the stadium in Belgium at the weekend, I was thinking about our game at West Ham (on Saturday) because I want to get those league points in the bag so we can properly look at who we might bring to the club in the summer." Sunderland are yet to secure their Premier League status for next season, and sit just three points above the relegation zone. Sbragia, though, is confident that he will still be managing in the top-flight next term after being impressed by the attitude of his players in recent weeks. "They've looked very positive," he said. "Even though we lost at Manchester City last game, we played a lot better than against Wigan in the previous game and the game was clouded by George McCartney's sending-off. "We're keeping the pressure off them and they seem to be enjoying training. "The pressure comes at five-to-three when they have to cross the white line and we see then how the lads react, but we have a fair amount of experience. "I am sure and they are sure we will get the points needed - I expect six to nine points."
