Sunderland's England Under-21 striker Duncan Watmore is hoping his side can build some momentum as they prepare for Saturday's Premier League basement battle with Hull.

David Moyes' side gained their first win of the season at Bournemouth before the international break and Watmore, fresh from scoring a stunning goal in England Under-21s defeat by France, says the players are determined to pick up from where they left off when they return to action against the east Yorkshire club at the Stadium of Light.

"All the players know the importance of this game and are ready for it," Watmore told www.safc.com. "Those who have been away on international duty are back now, and hopefully we can get the three points we need on Saturday.

"Momentum is massive in football. You've got to use it when you can.

"Sometimes it can work against you but if you get back-to-back wins, you can climb the league quickly with a few wins here and there.

"We know we're not in a very good position at all and we need to rectify that by winning on Saturday."
