An eventful period for David Goodwillie continued today when he was named in the Scotland squad for next Wednesday's friendly with Denmark at Hampden Park.[LNB]Scotland manager Craig Levein had confirmed on Sunday that Blackburn and Rangers target Goodwillie would return to his squad and there were few surprises when he named a 24-man pool.[LNB]Levein will use the clash to prepare for home games against the Czech Republic and Lithuania at the start of September in Euro 2012 qualifying.[LNB] National service: David Goodwillie is in the Scotland squad to face Denmark[LNB]Goalkeepers Matt Gilks and Iain Turner are the only uncapped players selected, while there is no place for captain Darren Fletcher as he builds up his fitness following a virus. [LNB]His international career was put on hold after he was charged with a serious sexual assault in January, but Levein drafted him back in after the charge was dropped last week. [LNB] Levein, who handed Goodwillie his United debut, is delighted that the 22-year-old has progressed to the stage where he is attracting such interest from Blackburn and Rangers. [LNB]Rovers were successful with a bid potentially worth a reported ?2.8million while Rangers manager Ally McCoist revealed his club were still in talks with the Tannadice board.[LNB] Levein said: 'The striking position is one that we don't have a plethora of players for. So it's good (to have him back) and it's in keeping with some of the younger lads I have been putting in to give them experience. [LNB]'I put David in that category and if you look at his form last season and the way he has started this season at Dundee United, I believe he's in the squad on merit.'[LNB] Room for improvement: Scotland lost 1-0 to Ireland on their last outing[LNB] West Brom midfielder Graham Dorrans also returns after injury while Chris Maguire misses out following his move from Aberdeen to Derby.[LNB]Skipper Fletcher is not included after being left out of Manchester United's squad for their pre-season tour of the United States in order to build up his fitness at the club's training ground.[LNB]Wolves striker Steven Fletcher remains out of the international picture after asking not to be considered for the game against Northern Ireland in February.[LNB]Sunderland goalkeeper Craig Gordon is absent as he recovers from knee surgery and there is no place for James McFadden, who is without a club after leaving Birmingham following a season ruined by cruciate ligament damage.[LNB]Rangers left-back Lee Wallace is still missing despite returning from the knee injury that he suffered during Scotland's win over Liechtenstein last season.[LNB] Bring it on!
