Darren's loving life at Sunderland
Striker Darren Bent feels he is reaping the rewards of moving to Sunderland from Tottenham last year. [LNB] The 26-year-old, who departed Spurs for the Stadium of Light in the 2009 summer transfer window after failing to make an impact at White Hart Lane, scored 25 goals in 40 games on his debut season with the Black Cats. [LNB]And Bent feels playing regular football in the North East rather than sitting on the bench at Tottenham is having an all-round positive effect on his career.[LNB]"As soon as Sunderland came in for me, I knew I wanted to go," Bent told The Guardian.[LNB]"They are a massive club with a passionate following and they were promising regular football. I didn't have too much to think about. [LNB]"I'm playing football regularly again, the goals are going in for me again, and the people round here are really appreciative. [LNB]"It's everything I wanted, really, and I think getting a regular game gets me noticed when internationals come around. [LNB]"When you are at a club and you are not playing all the time it is not ideal as I have said before, but that's all behind me now. I've come to a club that wants to play me and I couldn't be happier."[LNB]Bent admits nothing satisfies him more than knocking in goals for his side, and says he has learned to put missed chances behind him. [LNB]"Nothing beats scoring a goal," he said. "Knee, shin, anything, it doesn't bother me as long as it ends up in the back of the net. [LNB]"They all add up at the end of the season. The ones that don't go in you just forget about. [LNB]"Everyone misses chances, no one is perfect, and when you've been playing for a while you learn to move on to the next chance, because it might come very quickly."[LNB]Ghanaian World Cup striker Asamoah Gyan, a £15million summer signing, has played a limited role for the Black Cats so far this season. [LNB]And while Bent feels his fellow forward could play a key role at some stage, he is happy to spearhead manager Steve Bruce's current formation of choice. [LNB]"He looks great in training, like he could be a real impact player," added Bent of Gyan. [LNB]"I'm sure we will be playing some games with two strikers, but the thing is we've been doing really well playing 4-5-1 against some of the top teams recently."
