Da Silva eager to make debut

New Sunderland signing Paulo Da Silva cannot wait to make his Premier League bow after arriving from Mexican side Toluca. The 29-year-old joins on a free transfer after his contract with Toluca expired this summer. The defender is said to have rejected an offer from Tottenham to join the Black Cats and is excited about his future at the Stadium of Light. The Paraguay captain has had two failed spells in Europe before when he fleetingly turned out for both Perugia and Venezia in Italy earlier on in his career. "Firstly, I must adapt to life in England, then I want to help Sunderland to the best league position possible," he told The Chronicle. "It's a good challenge and I am very happy to be in the best league in the world. "Sunderland are a great club and I am used to fighting for big things. I am very happy and I wish the Premier League could start today."
