Co out of Black Cats running
10 Dec 2008 - 09:51:21
Dutch coach Co Adriaanse has distanced himself from rumours linking him with the vacant managerial post at Sunderland, insisting that he is happy with Red Bull Salzburg.
The 61-year-old has been tipped as an outsider to succeed Roy Keane at the Stadium of Light, but the former Ajax and AZ Alkmaar boss says he is not a serious candidate.
He told ELF Voetbal: "Firstly I have got a contract until the end of the season and I will honour that.
"I don't want to move to Sunderland, because I want to become champions with Red Bull this year. Besides I have also not yet been approached by Sunderland, so it is not up for discussion.
"I like it in Austria and I don't leave somewhere just like that when there is no conflict."
Meanwhile, former Charlton Athletic and West Ham manager Alan Curbishley says he is still interested in the Black Cats post.
He admitted: "I don't think anyone really knows what's going to go on. There's lots of speculation.
"Sunderland have to get a manager, but (chairman) Niall Quinn has come out and said that they are going to take their time because it's a big appointment.
"Would I be interested? I think it's more a case of Niall and the board having to be interested in me. We will have to see what happens."
