City sink claws into Black Cats
Aleksandar Kolarov, Sergio Aguero and James Milner scored as Manchester City beat Sunderland 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday lunchtime.
The defending champions got off to the best possible start when Kolarov curled in a sumptuous fifth-minute free-kick that gave Simon Mignolet no chance.
City had chances to double their lead but it wasn't until the hour-mark when substitute Sergio Aguero fired Kolarov's low cross into the back of the net from 10 yards out.
And the victory was secured a minute from time when another free-kick, this time from Milner, took a slight deflection off Craig Gardner's head and flew into Mignolet's net.
The victory temporarily moves the champions up to second in the table ahead of the 3pm kick-offs, and also saw Roberto Mancini's side keep their first clean sheet of the season.
