Cisse would welcome Spurs move

Djibril Cisse confesses that he would welcome the opportunity to join Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

The striker spent last season on loan at Sunderland, but has since returned to parent club Marseille after failing to earn a permanent deal at the Stadium of Light.

France international Cisse has made no secret of his desire to play in England, with Marseille willing to listen to offers, and he admits he would be happy to make a move to North London.

The 27-year-old scored his first competitive goal for former club Liverpool at White Hart Lane, before repeating the feat with Sunderland, and the stadium has impressed, while he would also welcome the chance to work under manager Harry Redknapp.

"Yeah, honestly, yeah," Cisse told Sky Sports News when asked whether he would accept a possible offer to join Spurs.

Rumours"It is a really good team and a really good stadium and good atmosphere.

"But at the moment it is only talk. When I have more news, I'll let you know."

He added about Redknapp: "I have heard a lot of good things about him. It would be good."

But Cisse insists he has not been approached by any club, despite rumours that he told Sunderland players earlier in the season that he was set to join Spurs.

"The only choice I have now is Marseille. So at the moment I am a Marseille player. I hope that I am going to find a club in England," he said.

UpsetCisse was upset by the way his time ended with the Black Cats, who narrowly avoided relegation, and believes the club could have offered advanced warning that his stay in the North East would not be extended.

"Honestly, I'm sad at the way it ended," he added. "Obviously they knew, they didn't decide on the Monday morning to not take the option. They knew before.

"So they could have been straight with me, and said, 'you have three more weeks, and then we're finished'. No. They told me 'we need to be safe, then we talk', so that's what I did.

"But then on Monday morning I have a phone call explaining to me why they're not taking the option. If I'd known I could have had the chance to say goodbye to people.

"I don't think it happened on the Monday morning. They could have been kind and thought about me too, that I need to find another solution."
