    Chopra seeks striking role

    22 Feb 2008 - 08:22:25

Sunderland striker Michael Chopra is hoping to get back to top form in the coming months and regain a starting spot in attack for the Black Cats.

The 24-year-old joined Sunderland for £5million from Cardiff City last summer and made a perfect start to his time on Wearside with the winning goal against Spurs on his debut.

However, he has scored just two more goals since then in a further 22 appearances and has had to settle for a role in midfield on several occasions.

Chopra told the Sunderland Echo: "I will play anywhere in the team as long as I am playing.

"But I would like to play up front more times than not, because that's my preferred position and that's where I think I do myself justice.

"But if the manager needs me to do a job on the right or the left, I will be happy to do that.

"My form has not been particularly good this season, but I know that will change and hopefully it will change quickly."
