Cattermole completes Sunderland move

SUNDERLAND have completed a £6m move for Wigan midfielder Lee Cattermole. Cattermole, wanted by Steve Bruce from the moment he took over on Wearside, has been at the Academy of Light today for a medical. The England Under-21 international is thought to have moved as part of a deal worth around £6m, while there have also been claims that there could be add-ons. Sunderland have completed the deal before Liverpool, who are also interested, made one last move for his services, while Everton were also keen. But Cattermole's admiration for Bruce has been key to the deal and there is every chance that the tough midfielder will be handed the captaincy at the Stadium of Light. Bruce has already signed Darren Bent, Fraizer Campbell, Paulo Da Silva and Lorik Cana and there could be more before Saturday's Premier League opener with Bolton.
