Tottenham defender Pascal Chimbonda is confident of completing his move to Sunderland after holding talks with Black Cats boss Roy Keane.
The France international full-back is believed to be available for transfer following an uneasy relationship with Spurs coach Juande Ramos.
Chimbonda joined the north London club two years ago following a season with Wigan Athletic, but saw his first-team opportunities limited after reacting angrily to being substituted during February's Carling Cup Final.
The 29-year-old has already held talks with Keane and is hopeful of completing a deal which could cost the Wearside club around £4million.
He said: "I travelled to meet Keane on Saturday at Sunderland's training ground. I was extremely impressed with what he had to say.
"Keane's honesty and openness really were fantastic and I particularly like the plans he has for Sunderland.
"The opportunity excites me and I hope he was impressed with what I had to say."
The Black Cats have also been linked with Chimbonda's current Spurs team-mates Steed Malbranque, Younes Kaboul and Teemu Tainio.
