Cats reverse frustrates Keane
13 Nov 2008 - 09:25:42
Sunderland manager Roy Keane was frustrated after seeing his side lose 2-1 at home to Blackburn Rovers in the fourth round of the Carling Cup.
The Black Cats have now lost their last four games in all competitions, but Keane remains upbeat about the level of performance being turned in.
He said after the latest reverse: "It's groundhog day, the same scenario. It's frustrating.
"Again, there wasn't much between the two teams, there's has not been much in the games of late, but we are on the losing end, so we have to sort that out.
"Clearly, we don't score enough goals, so we are always putting ourselves under pressure.
"Even with our good all-round play, good opportunities, good balls into the box, we don't score enough goals, so we are always putting ourselves under pressure."
Keane's mood was slightly improved by seeing striker Kenwyne Jones net his first goal of the season, following recent fears that he had suffered a recurrence of a serious knee injury.
The Irishman added: "He went down yesterday afternoon and the surgeon was quite happy there were no issues with the knee.
"There was swelling over the week, so there was obviously no way he could have played at the weekend. But we did a bit of training this morning and he looked lively.
"He wants to get back in the team and we thought this was a good opportunity and he did very well. He is a good player, he's a big plus for us."
