Cats: Jones going nowhere
15 Jan 2009 - 16:05:35
Sunderland boss Ricky Sbragia has warned Tottenham Hotspur off making an offer for striker Kenwyne Jones.
The Trinidad & Tobago international is reported to be interesting Spurs, with the north London club's manager Harry Redknapp considering making a £7.5million bid.
Aston Villa have also been mentioned as possible suitors for the striker, who joined the Black Cats in a £6million deal from Southampton 18 months ago.
But despite increasing speculation linking Jones with a move away from Wearside, Sbragia is determined to keep him at the Stadium of Light.
"There is no way I will be selling my best players - it's as simple as that," he told the club's official website.
"I don't care what other clubs say and do, at the end of the day he won't be going anywhere. There are no circumstances in which any of my (first-team) players will be leaving the club.
"We've got good players at the club and we have had interest in players but the answer has always been no.
"I can't see the point in selling one of my best centre-forwards to a club that is in the same position as us."
