Campbell keen to keep going

WITH the last two months representing the best spell of his Sunderland career, in-form frontman Fraizer Campbell does not want the current campaign to end.[LNB] For the majority of the season, Campbell found himself warming the substitutes' bench while Darren Bent and Kenwyne Jones formed Steve Bruce's first-choice attack.[LNB] Recently, however, things have changed, with the former England Under-21 international starting nine games in a row and scoring crucial goals against Bolton, Aston Villa and Birmingham.[LNB] I started off here a bit slow, but it's picking up towards the end of the season, said the £3.5m signing from Manchester United.[LNB] I'm happy here, a lot happier now. I'm playing football, I'm enjoying myself and the team is doing all right.[LNB] The season's going to end too early for me now, there's not enough games left for me. I just have to try and finish well to the end of the season and come back for pre-season and hopefully continue then.[LNB] Everyone knows you're not going to be playing every minute of every season, but Kenwyne was playing before and I'm playing now. Sometimes, players need a rest, some hit form at different times. Obviously, I'm just happy to be in the team.[LNB] Campbell is likely to retain his place in the starting line-up for Saturday's home game with Burnley, and is especially keen to be involved in Sunderland's final fixture at the Stadium of Light.[LNB] His former employers from Old Trafford are the visitors on May 2, and while he does not feel he has a point to prove to anyone at Manchester United, he admits he cannot wait to take them on.[LNB] It would be nice to stay in the team and play against Manchester United, said Campbell. I don't feel like I've got anything to prove. I'm still a United fan, so it'd be nice to go out and play against one of the best teams in Europe.[LNB] It could be tight at the top for them by then, so people will want to watch that game and we'll be looking forward to it. It should be a good game.[LNB]
