Campbell double sees off Sunderland

SUNDELAND suffered their first home defeat of the season after a brace from DJ Campbell sealed three points for Blackpool at the Stadium of Light.[LNB] In an extremely open game, which saw both sides create several chances, it was Ian Holloway's side who put theirs away, making the Black Cats pay for missing their chances.[LNB] Darren Bent and Asaoah Gyan had gone close for the home side in the first half, but it was the visitors who took the lead five minutes after the interval.[LNB] Campbell was free to head in from close range after Neil Eardley's right-wing cross had been flicked on my Matt Phillips.[LNB] Steve Bruce's men immediately pushed for an equaliser but they were stopped in their tracks by a couple of great saves from Richard Kingson, while Bent saw a curling free-kick hit the bar.[LNB] The game was then put beyond the Black Cats in the 90th minute when Phillips skipped past Richardson and Ferdinand and played the ball across to Campbell to tap in from point blank range.[LNB] Steve Bruce was left bemused by what he had seen. He said: "I have never witnessed anything like that, not at this level, anyway - maybe when I was at school.[LNB] "There's nothing I can say. We absolutely hammered them and lost 2-0. I can't remember ever being involved in a Premier League game where we have had so many chances.[LNB] "It could have been ten, it could quite easily have been ten."[LNB]  [LNB]
