Burnley 3 Sunderland 1: Nugent proving a real gem for manager Coyle

20 September 2009 01:23
David Nugent ended a personal nightmare to fuel the belief that Burnley can spend longer than one season in the Premier League.

Nugent came off the bench and took his two goals like Didier Drogba rather than a striker who had not scored since February.

The striker is trying to rebuild his career on loan at Turf Moor after managing only four goals in 45 games during a dreadful two-year spell at Portsmouth.

And the omens are good after a towering 67th-minute header was followed by a terrific shot on the turn as Burnley maintained their perfect home record against a Sunderland side that 'petered away', according to deflated manager Steve Bruce
