Bruce vents Bent frustration

Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has admitted his frustration at being unable to hold transfer talks with Spurs striker Darren Bent. The Black Cats were expected to thrash out personal terms with the striker this week after Tottenham wrapped up Peter Crouch's return. However, Sunderland have so far been unable to strike an accord, lengthy talks that got the better of Bent who hit out at Spurs chairman Daniel Levy on Friday. Bruce has conceded he twice thought a fee had been reached with the North Londoners only for the goalposts to move at the last moment. The Sunderland tactician now concedes that the club may call off their pursuit of the striker should the saga carry on much longer. Talks on-going"What time is it in America?" he said. "I think the Tottenham chairman Mr Levy is in America at the moment and talks are ongoing. "It is a frustrating time for everyone concerned but until we reach an agreement with Spurs then obviously we can't get the player. "We thought we had an agreement a couple of times but things have changed. "I have to say this though, there comes a time when I have to draw the line. "I have been at it for weeks and one or two of our other targets have drifted away from us because I have been targeting Darren, but we will see."
