Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has revealed his interest in signing Portsmouth defender Sylvain Distin.
The French defender has already been linked with moves to Liverpool, Aston Villa and former club Manchester City this summer, but now Bruce has also confirmed his club's interest.
Distin has just 12 months remaining on his Fratton Park contract and is reported to be unsettled on the south coast amid the long-running saga of the club's ownership.
"I think it would be wrong of me to comment on other people's players," said Bruce.
"He's a player we like and admire but that's as far as it has gone.
"We haven't got much in the way of transfer deals in the pipeline at the moment but we are still working extremely hard to improve the squad."
