Striker Kenwyne Jones has been told to focus on Sunderland by manager Steve Bruce.
The Trinidad & Tobago striker has been linked with a transfer to Liverpool this month in a move which has left Bruce seething.
The Black Cats boss was particularly upset at suggestions that his club could loan the £10million-rated striker out to the Reds until the end of the season ahead of a potential permanent transfer in the summer.
Jones was hauled off in the weekend FA Cup defeat as Portsmouth and Bruce has urged the six-goal frontman to focus on life at Wearside.
"There's no doubt the boy has got wonderful talent. The thing he has to do is make sure he does it repeatedly and regularly," he declared.
"Maybe over the last few weeks with all the nonsense which has been written about him, maybe his focus and his attention has not been playing on a Saturday, it's been elsewhere.
"The situation, I'm led to believe, is led by agents, which I find unhealthy.
"We hope the whole thing is gone to bed and put away."
