Bruce calls for Cana calm
Sunderland boss Steve Bruce admits Lork Cana may need to curb his tenacious instincts if he is to steer clear of suspension this season. The Albania international has proven to be an instant hit at the Stadium of Light following his summer arrival from Marseille. The 26-year-old midfielder has already put in a number of full-blooded performances, making him a terrace favourite, while he has also been installed as the Black Cats' skipper. Cana has, however, picked up three bookings in five games and his manager accepts he needs to cut out the yellow cards if he is too avoid spending numerous spells on the sidelines. "That's his third yellow card - it is just getting him through the season that will be an issue," said Bruce after seeing Cana cautioned in Saturday's 4-1 victory over Hull City. "To say he is trying to do his best is an understatement. You can see why I have made him captain. "He has obviously got to try to curb it, but he is just full of enthusiasm, trying to do the job and trying to play in England. "Everybody is telling him how tough England is - well, the Albanian captain is there to stand up. "He has got a good way about him. We will obviously have to check the yellow cards if we can, but he will be a cult hero here, I am sure of it."
