Bruce welcomes Bent boost

Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has been boosted by the news striker Darren Bent is fit and raring to go for the Barclays Premier League clash with Aston Villa. The club's 26-year-old leading scorer started at Blackburn on Monday night despite missing 10 days' training with the groin injury he picked up on international duty and at one point was hobbling gingerly around Ewood Park. However, Bruce is confident he has now fully recovered as the Black Cats attempt to defend their impressive home record, which sees them unbeaten in the league at the Stadium of Light. He said: "The one thing about Darren is he wants to train and play every day and it's never easy when you have missed something like 10 days. "Thankfully he is okay. He came through the game and he will be ready for it."
