Bruce poised for Sunderland after Mancini agent denies contact

Roberto Mancini will not become the next Sunderland manager after his agent denied reports that the Barclays Premier League club have made an approach for the former Inter Milan boss, paving the way for firm favourite Steve Bruce to take over the reigns. The Italian coach was quoted yesterday as saying he had been offered the chance to take over at the Stadium of Light, and hinted he would relish the opportunity to return to football after a 12-month absence. But to the contrary his agent, Giorgio De Giorgis, insisted Sunderland had not been in touch. 'Mancini is aware of those reports. But we have not received an offer, nor have we been in touch with anyone from Sunderland,' he said.
