// A bit of a hack but it works// The article snippet is wrapped onto a second line, even when #article-sub is emptyif( $("div#article-sub").children().length == 0 ) {$("div#article-sub").remove();} Steve Bruce described his side's 2-0 Carling Cup third round win over Birmingham as 'easy'.[LNB] The game was over as a contest as early as the 23rd minute after Jordan Henderson and Fraizer Campbell had both scored their first goals for the Black Cats.[LNB]Bruce selected a strong starting eleven and were comfortable winners over a dismal Birmingham side that gave the impression that they didn't even want to be there.[LNB]The ex-Birmingham manager would have pleased with the manner of the win but he was more delighted with the fact that Henderson and £6million Campbell were off the mark.[LNB]"It was good for Fraizer and good for Jordan, two young boys who I am sure will have a big future at Sunderland," he said.[LNB]"You will always remember your first goal and for them to get it tonight, they will like that. It was very, very pleasing.[LNB]"We were very, very comfortable, it was a very decent performance. To be fair, we were easy winners."[LNB]Bit of qualityBruce also had encouraging words for on loan Lyon defender John Mensah who produced an impressive showing in his first start for the club.[LNB]Also attracting praise from the manager was fellow defender Pablo Da Silva, who did his chances of first team football no harm. [LNB]"You just see Mensah and you look and think, 'That's a bit of quality'," he added.[LNB]"He has got that arrogance that top players have got, he is quick, powerful, he jumps, heads the ball well, he's tough.[LNB]"That's why he is captain of his country and da Silva mirrors him in that respect. He will be okay too.[LNB]"It's taken a little while but the two of them are here now, they are part of us now, thankfully. They will be big players for the club, I am sure of that.[LNB]"The two of them are captains of their countries, and you don't captain your country unless you have got something.[LNB]"Of course, they have never played in English football, that's the big question mark.[LNB]"But I am sure they will be big players for the club over the next few months and years. [LNB]"They are two really good players and they both can play anywhere too."[LNB]
