Bruce expresses Malbranque worry

Sunderland midfielder Steed Malbranque was taken to hospital with severe chest pains after he complained of discomfort during the 1-1 draw with Portsmouth.The 30-year-old Frenchman had to be subsituted at half-time, with Bolo Zenden taking his place. [LNB]"He had severe chest pains," said Black Cats boss Steve Bruce after his side failed to win for the 12th league game. [LNB]"It was cause of concern for the medics and the doctors have whisked him off to hospital," added Bruce. [LNB]"I thought it initially it was a bang to his ribs, but I'm in the dark as to the diagnosis." [LNB]Malbranque joined Sunderland on a four-year deal in July 2008. [LNB]Aruna Dindane equalised in the 96th minute to earn Portsmouth a draw against Sunderland, who finished the game with nine men after Lee Cattermole and David Meyler were sent off.
