Brown set for Sunderland medical

Manchester United defender Wes Brown is expected to have a medical at Sunderland on Wednesday as manager Steve Bruce edges closer to another summer signing.

Press Association Sport understands the 31-year-old has travelled to Wearside and will have the checks with a view to completing his move by Thursday.

The Black Cats had a joint bid of more than £12million for Brown and United team-mates John O'Shea and Darron Gibson accepted last month and have been working on the proposed deals ever since.
