Borini Wants Chances Converted

Fabio Borini says Sunderland should have beaten Villa on Saturday.

Fabio Borini: “It was a good point and we had to work very hard to get it.

"It’s not easy going to Villa Park and playing a team that has done well recently, especially when you consider our recent results away from home.

“We gave a very good performance and we stuck at the task in hand for the entire 90 minutes. We were consistent from the first to the last minute.

“We changed positions a lot during the game to make it harder for defenders to mark us.

“I moved out to the right and [Emanuele] Giaccherini was on the left and we both created chances from there.

“We did well to create the chances, but we need to be a lot more clinical in games and take those chances and finish them off.

“I think if we had done that against Aston Villa we could have been 3-0 up after the first half.

“At the break the head coach told us to keep going and doing what we were doing, at that point we had only done half of the job and our objective was to give a solid performance for 90 minutes – and I think, for the first time, we did that.

“It’s a great point to pick up away from home, and a timely confidence boost ahead of our run of games.”
