    Black Cats snare Da Silva

    13 Jul 2009 - 17:55:43

Sunderland have concluded their second piece of transfer business in as many days after completing the signing of Paraguay defender Paulo Da Silva.

The 29-year-old international captain has joined the Black Cats on a three-year deal from Mexican club Toluca.

Da Silva's arrival comes hard on the heels of the £3.5million capture of England Under-21 international striker Fraizer Campbell from Manchester United.

The experienced central defender has previously played in Italy for Perugia and Venezia.

"I'm delighted to have signed a player of Paulo's experience," manager Steve Bruce told the club's official website.

"He is captain of his country and has played at the highest level in South America so will bring leadership qualities to our side."
