Black Cats on brink of double capture
Sunderland are poised to seal a £5million double swoop for Argentina right-back Marcos Angeleri and Belgium Under-21 goalkeeper Simon Mignolet. Black Cats manager Steve Bruce turned his attentions to £3million-rated Angeleri after being put off by Tottenham's refusal to lower their £9million asking price for Alan Hutton. Despite Hutton impressing while on loan at the Stadium of Light last season, Sunderland were unwilling to match Spurs' valuation. Angeleri, 27, boasts almost 200 appearances for Argentine Primera Division side Estudiantes and was a surprise omission from Diego Maradona's World Cup squad. Mignolet will provide back-up to first-choice goalkeeper Craig Gordon next season after Sunderland agreed a fee thought to be around £2million with Belguim's St-Truidense.
