Black Cats handed Birmingham tie

Sunderland have been drawn against Birmingham in the Carling Cup third round. Steve Bruce's men eased past Norwich in the second round with a comfortable 4-1 victory and have been rewarded with a home tie at the Stadium of Light. The tie will be played in the week commencing September 21.
