Black Cats handed Hammers tie
Sunderland have been drawn at home to Barclays Premier League rivals West Ham in the third round of the Carling Cup.
The Black Cats have not beaten the Hammers in the last four meetings between the sides and will be looking to end that unwanted sequence.
The tie will be played in the week commencing September 20.
