Sunderland boss Gus Poyet has confirmed he is close to landing Argentinian striker Ignacio Scocco.
The Internacional frontman is expected on Wearside to undergo a medical during the next 24 hours or so after the two clubs agreed a fee.
Asked on Tuesday afternoon if the deal was likely to go through, Poyet said: "I hope so. It's not done, but we are very, very close."
Scocco would become the third Argentinian to complete a move to the Stadium of Light this month, following in the footsteps of keeper Oscar Ustari and defender Santiago Vergini, who both made debuts in Saturday's 1-0 FA Cup fourth-round victory over Skrill Premier outfit Kidderminster.
