Black Cats accept Collins bid

Sky Sports sources understand Sunderland have accepted an offer from Stoke City for defender Danny Collins. Stoke boss Tony Pulis is keen to improve his defensive options and has already brought in Middlesbrough stopper Robert Huth. Skysports.combroke news of City's interest in Collins and it has now been confirmed a bid has been accepted. The Welshman has started all three of Sunderland's Premier League games this season, but could find his place under threat by the Black Cats' aggressive recruitment campaign. Steve Bruce is known to be in the market for defenders himself, having declared an interest in John Mensah from Lyon and Hull City's sought-after stopper Michael Turner. Collins, 29, will be free to talk to Stoke now an accord has been struck between the two clubs.
