Bent enjoying life at Sunderland

DARREN Bent has revealed he is enjoying his football more than ever and admits he has his club to thank for his recent success at international level. Bent scored his first international goal in England's 3-1 win over Switzerland last month and could be handed a starting place when they face Montenegro in Tuesday night's Euro 2012 qualifier at Wembley. Since joining Sunderland in summer 2009 from Tottenham, Bent has been in prolific form for the Black Cats, scoring 25 goals in 40 games last season. Despite missing out on Fabio Capello's World Cup squad in the summer, the 26-year-old has put his disappointment firmly behind him and already has five goals in a red and white shirt this season. That form has seen him regain a place in Capello's squad and with injuries to Jermain Defoe and Bobby Zamora, Bent could well partner Wayne Rooney up front on Tuesday night. The former Ipswich and Charlton man believes his form for Sunderland has been crucial to his international career and admits he doesnt care how the goals go in. "Im playing football regularly again, the goals are going in for me again and the people around here are really appreciative," Bent said. "It's everything I wanted, really, and I think getting regular games gets me noticed when the internationals come around. "When you are at a club and you are not playing all the time, it is not ideal as I have said before, but that's all behind me now. "I've come to a club that wants to play me and I couldnt be happier. "Nothing beats scoring a goal," "Knee, shin, anything, it doesn't bother me as long as it ends up in the back of the net. "They all add up at the end of the season. The ones that don't go in you just forget about. "Everyone misses chances, no one is perfect and when you've been playing for awhile you learn to move on to the next chance, because it might come very quickly."
