Bent eyes England return

Sunderland striker Darren Bent hopes his early-season form will trigger an England recall. International coach Fabio Capello saw Bent notch his second goal in as many games in the 3-1 defeat by Chelsea at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday. Capello is due to name his squad at the weekend for the friendly against Slovenia a fortnight on Saturday and the World Cup qualifier against Croatia the following Wednesday. Bent has been rejuvenated since his summer move from Tottenham and an England call-up would cap his fabulous start with the Black Cats. "If I can get another goal against Blackburn, that would just top things off for me and maybe it would give me a chance of an England shout," said Bent. "I don't want to think too much about it but, if I play regularly for Sunderland and get goals and we push up the league, who knows - there might be something for me with England."
