Bardsley bemoans double blow

Sunderland full-back Phil Bardsley admits the team must act quickly to fill the void created by injuries to Michael Turner and Titus Bramble. The pair had formed a strong central defensive partnership this season but are now both likely to be sidelined by injuries until the new year. The Black Cats suffered in their absence as their recent good run was ended by a 3-2 defeat to Wolves in the Barclays Premier League on Saturday. Bardsley said in the Sunderland Echo: "It's a big blow losing Michael and Titus. They've been two key players to us and we've been able to have a stable back four. "It upsets the rhythm of the team when you change the back four. But players have got to come in and stake their claim to earn a regular place in the team and perform to the levels that the two injured lads have been doing."
