Baggies to bid £2.5m for Webo

West Brom are ready to spark a transfer scramble for Pierre Webo by offering £2.5million for the unsettled Real Mallorca striker.[LNB] The 29-year-old is at loggerheads with cash-strapped Mallorca, who can't afford to give him the long-term deal that he craves.[LNB]Webo's agent Eugenio Botas contacted Albion, Newcastle and Sunderland at the end of last month to make them aware of his possible availability - and Roy Hodgson is reportedly ready to put a £2.5million bid on the table.[LNB]The Baggies are keen to bolster their frontline in a bid to ease the burden on leading goalscorer Peter Odemwingie, who is in talks over a new lucrative deal at The Hawthorns.[LNB]And having toyed with the idea of playing Somen Tchoyi as a central striker following his hat-trick at Newcastle on the last day of the season, they have instead decided to splash the cash on Webo.[LNB]The Cameroon international has been on Albion's radar since catching the eye in a pre-season friendly at The Hawthorns three seasons ago.[LNB]Webo enjoyed a successful season in La Liga, scoring 11 goals in 34 appearances and impressing Mallorca fans with his workrate.
