Former Netherlands international midfielder Bolo Zenden has committed himself to another year at Sunderland by signing a new contract.[LNB] The 33-year-old Dutchman, who joined the club on a free transfer from Marseille last summer, has put pen to paper on a 12-month deal.[LNB]Manager Steve Bruce said: "I'm delighted Bolo has agreed to stay with us.[LNB]"He has played at the top level for a long time and has a wealth of experience which is so valuable both on and off the pitch.[LNB]"He has a great influence on his team-mates, and that is vital when you are bringing through the promising young players that we are."[LNB]Bruce revealed last month that the club wanted to take up an option to retain Zenden's services for another year, but said he would not put any pressure on the player as he assessed his options.[LNB]The former PSV Eindhoven, Barcelona, Chelsea, Middlesbrough and Liverpool midfielder made 21 appearances last season, 19 of them as a substitute, and scored twice.[LNB]He is understandably keen to have a greater involvement during the next campaign, but Bruce has been delighted with his influence on and off the pitch and was desperate to keep him on board.[LNB]The 54-times capped Holland international's contract extension is another post-season boost for the Black Cats following after Paraguay midfielder Cristian Riveros completed his move from Mexican side Cruz Azul last week.[LNB]Chairman Niall Quinn told the club's official website: "It warms my heart to see someone who's done everything he has give such commitment to the club.[LNB]"He could easily be viewed as just another guy who's coming to the end of his career, but his input on and off the pitch is terrific.[LNB]"The dressing room is more professional. Bolo has the respect of everyone and he is someone the other players look up to.[LNB]"He enthuses about the game every day and it's a joy to behold. That rubs off on everyone.[LNB]"He's a class act and the young players will gain so much experience from being around him."
