Veh rues early setback

Stuttgart boss Armin Veh thought his side's poor start to the home game against Koln contributed to their 3-1 defeat.

Milivoje Novakovic put the visitors ahead after just three minutes and Veh's side never recovered from that early setback.

He said: "It was fatal for us to go behind so quickly. That gave the initiative to our opponents right from the off.

"But we did manage to get our act together after the first ten minutes and played decent football after that.

"Unfortunately we didn't manage to score and, after going two down, we resorted to a hammer and tong approach which threw out any semblance of structure.

"All in all we're very disappointed by the result."
