Stuttgart unsure over Hleb

Stuttgart president Erwin Staudt has warned Alex Hleb that his wage demands are likely to scupper any return to the Mercedes-Benz Arena.

Hleb enjoyed a glittering four-year spell with the Bundesliga club before moving on to Arsenal in 2005.

The Belarus midfielder has struggled for starting opportunities with Barcelona this season and Stuttgart are keen to re-sign him.

However, Staudt has admitted that finances may prove a stumbling block in any deal.

"It is not just about transfer fees with a player like this but also about salary demands," he said.

"We must consider whether we will buy the player and for how many years or whether we loan him with an option to buy."
