Stuttgart suspend Ljuboja

Striker Danijel Ljuboja's career with VfB Stuttgart is almost certainly over he was suspended for the rest of the season for a breach of club discipline.

The 30-year-old Serbia international has only featured three times as a substitute for the Bundesliga club so far this term and his current contract runs out next summer.

Stuttgart coach, Markus Babbel, confirmed: "He has not behaved in the way you expect from a professional player. This is his second infringement in a short period of time."

The club's director of sport, Horst Heldt, added: "Danijel had the chance to leave the club during the winter break, but he did not take it and there was always a problem."

Ljuboja made his name in France during stints with Sochaux, Strasbourg and Paris St Germain, however, he has failed to live up to his earlier promise since moving to Germany.

Since signing on a permanent basis for Stuttgart in the summer of 2006, Ljuboja has been loaned out to both Hamburg and Wolfsburg, but failed to make the expected impact at either club.
