Stuttgart hopeful over Jens

Stuttgart are hoping to persuade veteran goalkeeper Jens Lehmann to extend his stay at the Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion.

The 39-year-old former Germany international joined the club last summer on a one-year contract after exiting Arsenal but will leave his decision over whether to play on next season until later this year.

"Jens and I have worked out a schedule when to talk about his contract," claimed general manager Horst Heldt.

"He will have to talk to his family first and then we are going to see whether we will have the chance to continue with him.

"We clearly want to, but I am definitely not going to rush him into making any decision.

"We would be very glad if he decides to continue. He is a very important player and we are happy to have him."
