Stuttgart's Portugal international defender Fernando Meira has left Germany to join Turkish giants Galatasaray.
The 30-year-old centre-back has opted to move on despite having two years left to run on his current Stuttgart deal, with the two clubs having agreed an undisclosed fee to seal the deal.
Meira's departure follows the recent arrival of Netherlands stopper Khalid Boulahrouz from Chelsea.
A statement from sporting director Horst Heldt on the club's official website read: "We would like to thank Fernando for the six-and-a-half years in the VfB jersey and wish him all the very best for his future in Turkey.
"As captain of the 2007 championship winning team, Fernando will always have a place in the history of the club."
