Lehmann back in hot water

Controversial Stuttgart goalkeeper Jens Lehmann has been banned for three games after stamping on striker Aristide Banceduring during his side's 1-1 draw with Mainz.

The 40-year-old's petulance led to Mainz equalising with an 86th-minute penalty as Stuttgart's winless run was extended to nine matches.

Lehmann was shown a red card by referee Wolfgang Stark and later had a confrontation with a fan and ordered a taxi to take him home before opting to join his team-mates on the club coach.

He will now miss the matches against Hoffenheim, Wolfsburg and Bochum, although a scan revealed the former Arsenal star suffered a ligament strain in his left knee during the match anyway.

Sven Ulreich will take Lehmann's place while he is banned, but the veteran is expected to reclaim his place once he has served his suspension.
