Cacau handed Germany call

Stuttgart's Brazilian-born striker Cacau is one of four uncapped players to have been called up for Germany's -of-season tour of Asia.

The 28-year-old is joined for the first time in the national team set-up by club colleague Christian Trasch, Schalke goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and Wolfsburg midfielder Christian Gentner.

Germany face China and the United Arab Emirates later this month, with coach Joachim Low keen to look at a few fresh options.

He said of Cacau: "He is a technical striker and has precisely the qualities to match our footballing philosophy.

"He is very agile and runs a lot, is comfortable on the ball and dangerous in front of goal. Therefore, he has deserved his chance with us in view of our future plans.

"Christian Trasch has developed well and has a lot of potential. He is quick and physically strong.

"Christian Gentner has also developed positively and continued to play well in the Bundesliga over a long period of time."
