Ayr United returned to the top of the table with a comprehensive victory as Stranraer's dismal record of only two wins all season continued.The home side went behind in the cruellest manner when Kevin Nicoll headed into his own net on 17 minutes. Kenny Connolly doubled Ayr's lead before Stephen McConalogue's 49th minute goal threw Stranraer a lifeline.
