Pettigrew return boosts Aitken

Stranraer defender Craig Pettigrew is expected to make his first start in three months in the home game against Morton.

Pettigrew has recovered from knee surgery, but manager Stephen Aitken will be without the injured Scott Robertson (knee), Adam Forde (foot) and Sam McCloskey (ankle).

Aitken has warned his side to be ready for a backlash from Morton after they lost to Spartans in the Scottish Cup last weekend.

Aitken said: "They will be disappointed and determined to make someone pay. We have to ensure that it is not us.

"We can go above Morton with a win and that would be a good day's work if we did."

Morton are hoping to field former Rangers, St Mirren and Airdrie goalkeeper Grant Adam as a trialist as Derek Gaston remains sidelined with a thigh injury and Nico Caraux is absent due to a groin problem.

Declan McManus returns after not being given permission to play against Spartans in the Scottish Cup last weekend by parent club Aberdeen, while Thomas O'Ware, Connor Pepper and Jon Scullion all face fitness tests.

Morton boss Duffy is looking for his men to move on quickly from their defeat to the Lowland League side.

Duffy said: "We are out of the cup so we have to get over it quickly and winning at Stranraer would be a great response."
