Reid eyes 'derby edge' against Ayr

Former Ayr United manager Brian Reid leads Stranraer against his old side for the first time and he has added former St Mirren and Partick defender David Barron to his squad.

Barron is signed up on a short-term deal until January next year, and is expected to provide a versatile angle to Stranraer behind the front line.

Everyone else is fit and available as the Blues look to bounce back from a 4-0 defeat at home last weekend from Peterhead with Reid saying: "We will be looking to make up for that result and this would be a terrific game to do that in.

"There is a derby edge to the game and it will have a good atmosphere. It will be a tough game but hopefully home advantage will count in our favour."

Ayr United boss Ian McCall has brought Blackburn Rovers striker Jordan Preston in for a second loan spell and he joins a fully fit and suspension-free squad.

McCall is looking for his side to redress the balance as he explained: "I joined Ayr in January and I have been told since then that Stranraer have been dominating this fixture for too long.

"Hopefully we can go to Stair Park and get a win and start a period of Ayr dominance. We played well against Rangers in midweek despite losing 2-0.

"If we can pass the ball like we did in that game we have a great chance of winning."
