Grubben finds a way for Arbroath

Stranraer and Arbroath shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw in their opening Irn-Bru Second Division clash at Stair Park.

Hosts Stranraer had the better of the early exchanges and got their noses in front after 22 minutes when Christopher Aitken's right-footed inswinging corner was headed in at the back post by the unmarked Michael Moore.

But Arbroath were level inside the first minute of the second period, Darren Grubben finding the bottom corner with a powerful left-footed strike from the edge of the penalty area.

Robert Love could have snatched all three points for Stranraer, but his close-range shot on the hour flew past the right-hand upright.

Arbroath also went close when Paul Sheerin's inswinging corner from the right fell to Alex Keddie, but his header flew over the crossbar.
