Craig Malcolm scores on landmark appearance as Stranraer thrash Airdrie

Craig Malcolm marked his 200th appearance in club football with the opening goal as Stranraer defeated Airdrie 4-0.

Malcolm, who has also played for Raith and Ayr, set Stranraer on their way to an important win to strengthen their grip on a Ladbrokes League One promotion play-off place when he headed in Andy Stirling's cross.

Willie Gibson's fine free-kick from the edge of the area on the half hour increased their lead and Stirling nearly made it three when his powerful shot came back off the woodwork on the stroke of half-time.

Stranraer wrapped up the points when Stirling did get on the scoresheet with 12 minutes remaining and substitute Kyle Turner netted late in to leave his side fourth in the table and Airdrie sixth.
