Stranraer stun Staggies
Stranraer came from behind to knock out Scottish Premiership side Ross in a thrilling 3-2 Scottish League Cup victory.
The League One strugglers fought back from being behind at half-time as goals from Sean Winter, Chris Aitken and Martin Grehan gave them the scalp of the men from Dingwall, who netted through Richard Brittain and Orhan Mustafi.
The home side made four changes after their weekend draw with Ayr, which gave them their first point of the season after two league losses, as Lloyd Kinnaird, Aitken, David McKenna and former Ross County man Mark Corcoran came into the line-up.
But it was one of the starters from Saturday who created the first chance of the game.
It was an opportunity of Grehan's own creation as he worked hard on the left before cutting inside.
He found just enough room beyond Brian McLean but his drive across goal was blocked by the sliding Grant Munro.
Stranraer were proving a physical side with the presence of Grehan up front.
At the other end, it was not until after the 15-minute mark that the Premiership side threatened.
Kevin Luckassen managed to wriggle free from Scott Rumsby before firing a low cross along the six-yard box.
Frank McKeown was on hand to intercept, but County continued to press with Graham Carey whipping in another teasing cross from the opposite flank moments later.
That set the tone for a period of sustained pressure as County refused to let Stranraer out of their half.
However, it was not until just before the half-time whistle that the visitors made their breakthrough.
A corner was whipped in from the left and collected by Grant Munro, who turned towards goal and went down under a challenge from Sean Winter.
It looked soft but Brittain was not complaining as he sent David Mitchell the wrong way in blasting into the bottom right corner from the spot.
However, the Blues snatched a leveller after Winter gathered a ball over the top.
He collected the ball wide on the right before cutting in and beating Mark Brown at his near post.
And, incredibly, the hosts found themselves in front just five minutes later.
Goalscorer Brittain bundled Winter to the deck from Aitken's corner and referee Stephen Finnie levelled the penalty count.
Aitken stepped up to blast home an unstoppable spot-kick into the top left corner.
The Blues were only in front for eight minutes though as County fought back.
There was a real scramble in the box and substitute Mustafi was in the right place to fire home from six yards.
But there was time for another twist as Grant Gallagher surged through the defence before finding Jamie Longworth.
His shot was blocked and Grehan was on hand to blast past Brown.
